Supreme Tease Next Collab with Nike on the Nike Shox Ride 2

Monday 14th of February saw Supreme post images of their upcoming Spring/Summer collection. Upon reviewing the images, the next collaboration between the New York brand and Nike can be seen on foot in the form of the Nike Shox Ride 2. 

Debuted by Nike in the early 2000s the Shox Ride 2 is a lesser-known silhouette that holds its place in a handful of sneakerheads hearts. According to a post by PY_RATES (@py_rates_ on Instagram) in a now-deleted Instagram post, it appears that their initial mock-ups of the shoe show a collection of three colourways of the upcoming collab including green, red and white with the fourth addition from the official images from Supreme showing an all-Black pair. 

The sneakers appear to be made of a mix of suede and mesh materials along with leather sections on the back heel. The classic visible Nike Air Unit can be seen within the midsole of the forefoot and the Shox sole units are finished with small ‘Supreme’ detailing at the back.

Supreme appears to have taken a step away from using bold, abrasive, branding in their newest Fall/Winter 21 collection as well as their Spring/Summer 22 collection. This sentiment is carried over to their next collaboration with Nike since their 2021 release of the Supreme x Nike Air Max 96 which was met with mixed response. 

The detailing on the Shox Ride 2’s is due to be tasteful and discrete. While the images from PY_RATES alluded to further Supreme branding along the sneakers mudguard, it appears that it’s kept to the back of the midsole along with minimal Nike branding on the toe box, lateral side of the upper and the heel finished off with hits of 3M. 

The upcoming Supreme x Nike Shox Ride 2 is slated to release around Spring. 

In other Supreme news, James Jebbia, founder of the New York originated streetwear brand, has appointed Tremaine Emory as their new creative director following the departure of Angelo Baque (founder of Awake NY) who departed Supreme as brand director in 2017.
