The Off-White x Air Jordan 2 Lands This Week
Off-White is teaming up with sportswear giants Nike once again, as the duo confirms the release of the Off-White x Air Jordan 2 in White/Varsity Red & Black/Varsity Blue colourways.
Designed by Bruce Kilgore, the AJ2 silhouette was the second signature basketball shoe of Michael Jordan, which, at the time was created to pay homage to MJ’s love of luxury footwear.
To achieve Virgil’s distinguished aged aesthetic, the two stalwarts dug into Nike’s archives and pulled a worn pair of the Jordan 2 model, signed by Jordan himself, before 3D printing the crumbling midsole unit.
A combination of leathers dress the upper, with the leather around the rear quarter of the shoe resembling alligator skin (an ode to Jordan’s expensive taste in shoes back then), the rest of the upper is smooth, and features perforations around the toe box.
Michael Jordan’s autograph comes stamped on the lateral sidewall, with Off-White’s Helvetica printed branding on the medial mid-panel, as seen on all of Virgil Abloh’s OW x Nike models.
Further detailing includes the famous Off-White zip tie attached to the laces in orange and red, along with foam padding around the ankle collar, and the iconic Jordan wings logo on the tongue.
The Off-White x Air Jordan 2 Varsity Red & Varsity Blue official release date is Friday, November 12. Stay tuned for more information on the release, and sign up to our newsletter below to be the first to find out when it arrives at Kick Game.
